Dr. Painovich is now certified to treat dermatology conditions with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and is a member of the Register of Chinese Medicine Dermatology. Worldwide there are less than 200 certified practitioners on the Register. In order to become a member of the Register, Dr. Painovich studied for almost two years under Mazin Al-Khafaji, a world renowned leader in Chinese medicine dermatology. The rigorous Diploma course culminated with an intensive final exam. Dermatology conditions for which Dr. Painovich can treat include:

Dermatology conditions are only treated with the use of individualized Chinese herbal formulas. Although individuals can have the same diagnosis, such as psoriasis or acne, the presentation of that condition can vary greatly and in TCM have vary different root causes. Because of this distinct variablity, treatment of each individual starts with an indepth consultation. This provides Dr. Painovich the information on which to base her herbal formulations. The treatment process is typically three to six months but can be longer depending on the severity of the condition. Patients are usually re-evaluated every three weeks in order to adjust the formula.Unfortunately, herbal therapies are not covered by insurance but costs can be reimbursed through health savings accounts.
